Joelann's Story
In 2019, Joelann Rousell founded The Rousell Law Firm with a clear vision: to deliver client-centered, results-driven legal representation rooted in integrity, empathy, and excellence. With a background shaped by rigorous training, courtroom experience, and a passion for service, Ms. Rousell sought to provide individuals and families in the New Orleans Metropolitan area with access to high-quality legal advocacy across a range of practice areas.

While The Rousell Law Firm initially focused on family law and personal injury, Ms. Rousell’s drive to serve underserved and vulnerable populations inspired the expansion of the firm to include immigration, VA disability, and business law. Her diverse practice reflects a commitment to helping people at critical junctures in their lives—whether they are fighting for custody, seeking justice after an injury, building a business, or pursuing legal status in the United States.

Ms. Rousell is known for her honest case evaluations, clear communication, and hands-on approach. She personally works with each client to develop a strategic plan, identify both strengths and weaknesses, and guide them through every phase of the legal process. Relentless in the pursuit of justice and resolution, she takes pride in earning her clients’ trust and fighting for their best possible outcome—both in and out of the courtroom.
Joelann Rousell is an active leader in the Louisiana legal community. She proudly serves as a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, is affiliated with the Louisiana Association for Justice, and is a member of the Louisiana Black Women Lawyers Association. Ms. Rousell is also a dedicated supporter of initiatives promoting access to justice, equity in the courtroom, and ethical excellence in the practice of law.

She is deeply committed to the empowerment and advancement of women, communities of color, veterans, and individuals with disabilities—both within the legal profession and across the greater New Orleans area. In pursuit of that mission, Ms. Rousell actively participates in community outreach, mentorship programs, and advisory panels aimed at fostering diversity, inclusion, and meaningful change within the legal system.
